Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides

First thing first; I think I can get drunk with Coke.

Before I start, let me tell you some of the basics of movie marketing stratagem.
To generate the maximum amount of profit from your movie, it is preferable that you create a franchise out of it.

When you create the first movie, make sure people likes it. Make sure it's unique, and the concept appeals to your client.

For your second movie, ensure that there is a perfect twist to the story. Always make sure that there's a hanging ending so that you can continue with the third movie.

Always end your third movie with something that will make your spectator in awe, craving for another movie.

Once this is done, your movie will have the notoriety and fame, that fans will simply invest their money to watch your upcoming movies regardless whether it is good or not.

And this movie, ladies and gents, implemented the theory word by word from the book.

What I'm trying to say is that, as expected, this movie is a let down. The plot isn't good. Simple, and was meant to be something where you can simply lie back, and all of the sudden, the movie is over.

Bad character development as well. There's dozens of new characters in this movie, and not one of their background was told in a way that could possibly satisfy me.

Oh, and another thing. Usually, it might appeals me if there's naked women in the movie. But, to actually see one in a Disney's movie? That is almost absurd. I'm not trying to be closed minded or something here, but umm.. Last time I checked, Disney aimed their movies to attract adults and kids.

Perhaps I was mistaken  or maybe my perverted mind played some sort of a trick, but I don't think parents want their children to understand the 'illusionary' meaning when a women asked a men
" why is it that when we met, you always ended up pointing something at me? "

OK, I'm sure you didn't think something is fishy behind that sentence because I'm sure you are a great person.
But surely you'd felt the fishynes  when you saw the mermaids, eh?

Bad things aside, there are some good things about this movie. I absolutely love the costumes. They're wonderful and awesomely great!

And it's an epic movie, I mean, who would hate epic movies?

All in all, I'm giving the movie 6 stars. I was really disappointed.

Thor

Another marvel's super hero movie?

Thor!

I'd never really liked Marvel heroes. Truth be told, I don't like anything that tries to represent the world as something that is black and white, where there is only either good or evil. My first impression of this movie wasn't quite nice though. It's hard enough to imagine a hero with a humongous cape and a hammer flying around fighting crime in a comic book, but to make him flying around in a 'real life' movie?

Again, ever so often i have to admit that I am a humble human being with a lot of undoubted weaknesses, and in this case, I have to admit that I have a really bad first impression hunches.

First and foremost, this movie is great, in a sense. The story telling is marvelous, with an occasional twist here and there. The bad guy isn't actually THAT bad. He have a great sense of duty, but he approached it from a wrong direction. The hero was an arrogant fool who thinks with his fist most of the time, whom gradually changes with the course of the story. Plus, ( spoiler alert! ) theres no happy lovey dovey ending.

Remember what I'd just said two paragraphs before? I was wrong. The fighting scenes and most of the CGI scenes are wonderful despite the hero using a small hammer and having a huge cape on his back.

Downside? Bad costumes. Don't get me wrong though. It's great, and definitely not cheap stuffs, but somehow, i was expecting something more. Maybe a less rigid, more detailed costume?

I really don't have any more to comment on this movie. I didn't mean it's a tip top perfect movie though. But somehow, despite my lack of negative comments on this movie, it lacks something, making it just another random movie which I will simply forget about it in months to come.

It's a great movie, but somehow, I can only give it 7 stars. Sorry buddy.

Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah

The title is a mouthful isn't it.

Ok, so i heard this is one of the big shots malay movie. My mom INSISTED that i watch it, and reluctantly, i did.
Frustrated? Well, i wont say that it's that bad. Instead, I'll say 'OK lahh..'

OK, I know i was a bit too late to talk about this, but hey

This is my blog.

Basically, this movie is about a village, which was being haunted by the ghost of Kak Limah, a lonesome village elder whom people barely know about. All of the sudden, Kak Limah's ghost appeared in Kampung Pisang. What had the villagers did to deserve the haunting? Watch, and you will be surprised. Spooky huh? Well, it's not another typical horor movie, mind. I do not watch those kind of movies ( don't ask me why), but instead, it's a classical horror comedy. There's an interesting twist in the end, which i will definitely not spoil it to you.

Here's a little info. Remember the infamous 'Zombi Kampung Pisang'? Well, this is that movie's sequel just for your info.

All in all, I think this movie was creatively done. It's one of those 'simple comedy' or 'lawak bodoh' comedy , but it was done in a fantastic method. The jokes are funny and clever in a way, unlike most Malay comedy, albeit some parts where the jokes are barely funny. I really have to complement this movie though. Watching it was like watching another P. Ramlee's movie. It's one of the 'trend setting' jokes that I'm sure movie makers in the future will surely imitate.

I also like this one part, where I felt kind of scared, but at the same time, having the urge to laugh because of the silly jokes made by some of the characters. It was during this one part, where the village peoples were trying to find Kak Limah in her house. OK, I admit, I am a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to watching  horror movie ( I had just answered your first question huh ), but this two different feeling, nervousness and fun, to emerge within me at the same time, is a miraculous accomplishment by the director and casts.

On the other side, the movie lacks story telling and a great story line. Even though it's one of those 'simple comedy' movies, but I'm expecting some sort of a smooth sailing story telling that will actually makes sense to me. A movie that would entertain me with a magnificent story telling, like other fantastic movies. To me, regardless of the movie's genre, a movie must have a concrete story line because, if not, what is the point of creating one.

I'm also disappointed with the movie's ending. After the stupendous ending in 'Zombi Kampung Pisang', I was expecting that they'd improvise, and learn something. Maybe they thought its a great move or something, but I think it's hardly comical. It created an aura of 'WTF' in my head, like I was wasting my time despite the fact that I had some great laughs watching this movie.

I don't mean to disappoint any people, or suffer from anyone's wrath, but I think this is a great movie, but requires a lot of development in certain areas.

I'll give this movie, a 5 starts. *Kaching*
